1. Pervasive Announces Pervasive.SQL.
The next version of Btrieve and Scalable SQL have been announced under a new name: Pervasive.SQL. Pervasive.SQL integrates the architecture of Btrieve with Scalable SQL into one complete database engine. The Pervasive.SQL Evaluation Guide is available on-line at http://www.pervasive.com/products/sql/evalguide.doc. Pervasive.SQL is fully compatible with previous versions of both Btrieve and Scalable SQL. New logging and thread management combined with platform-specific optimizations boost Pervasive.SQL's performance up to 10X over previous versions.
From a developer's perspective, this is great news because new interfaces to Pervasive database products will take advantage of both relational (SQL, ODBC) and transactional (Btrieve API) access to databases. The developer will not have to choose between relational capabilities and direct speed. It will give developers the best of both worlds when it comes to building solid and fast database applications.

2. Smithware Encourages Partner Conference Attendance!
