Scalable SQL 4 is the leading SQL database for delivering client/server applications.

Scalable SQL 4, Pervasive Software Inc.'s relational client/server database, is uniquely designed to be bundled in high volume client/server applications. Scalable SQL 4 provides seamless scalability, deployment licensing and packaging, maintenance-free operation, small memory footprint and multiplatform support.

Application Scalability

Scalable SQL 4 allows developers to scale applications from mobile systems to client/server environments without changing the application or the database.

Deployment Licensing and Packaging

Scalable SQL 4 is licensed for high volume deployment of applications ($2 per seat for 1,000-seat Workstation Commercial Deployment Kit). Licensing includes distribution of a fully functional workstation engine.

Programming Extensions

Inscribe: Visual Basic Compatible Scripting provides an industry standard language for developing routines that can be executed directly or from within an application.

Stored Procedures improve performance and reduce network traffic by allowing applications to call precompiled subroutines which are processed by the database engine. Supports ANSI standard SQL and Visual Basic compatible stored procedures.

Triggers enforce business rules at the database level by initiating a user defined stored procedure when specified update events occur. Supports ANSI standard SQL and Visual Basic compatible triggers.

Cost-based Optimization

Statistical analysis improves query performance by determining the fastest access plan.

Enhanced fetch algorithms provide efficient data access.

Transaction Processing Enhancements

Nested transactions allow transactions to be composed of small sub-transactions and minimize the time required for rollback operations.
