Karen Malin to Senior Management Team
Nashville, TN, June 6, 2000 - empactHealth.com, a
leading provider of e-procurement solutions for the healthcare
industry, today announced that Karen J. Malin has joined the
company's senior management team as Vice President, Channel
Development. Malin has more than 17 years experience in the
healthcare industry, specializing in medical equipment and
device sales and marketing, both on the supplier side and
the provider side. She is responsible for directing empactHealth.com's
sales efforts focused on suppliers of medical and non-medical
products to be offered through the company's electronic marketplace.

management team. Her years of experience in sales on both
the supplier side and provider side will accelerate the rollout
of our company's e-procurement offerings to the healthcare

Prior to joining empactHealth.com, Ms. Malin managed national
accounts for Medtronic in the areas of Cardiac Rhythm Management,
Cardiac Surgery and Vascular. Her account responsibility included
Columbia/HCA and Consorta. She was formerly Senior Director
of Corporate Accounts for MEDIQ PRN, the nation's largest
supplier of moveable medical equipment, responsible for both
the Columbia/HCA and Premier accounts.
Before managing corporate accounts for seven years on the
supplier side, Ms. Malin worked on the provider side managing
the equipment program for MedEcon Services, a regional Group
Purchasing Organization headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky.
Management of the equipment program included all equipment
contracting as well as consulting services that were offered
to the membership. Her background in medical equipment and
devices also includes serving as an equipment analyst for
M.D. Buyline, as well as a Clinical Applications Specialist
for SpaceLabs, Inc.
Ms. Malin holds a Bachelor of Nursing degree from The University
of Texas - Arlington, where her studies also included advanced
coursework in business and management. Early in her career,
Ms. Malin practiced cardiac critical care nursing both at
Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and at the Irving,
Texas Healthcare System.
