Quovadx Announces Winners of the 2001 Innovative Solution Awards
Clients Honored for Industry-Leading Application of Quovadx's Technology
ENGLEWOOD, CO (November 15, 2001) Quovadx, Inc. (Nasdaq: QVDX), a leading provider of
Total Business Integration (TBI) software and services, today announced it awarded seven winners
in the third annual Innovative Solutions Award program presented last month at its Integrate 2001
User Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
HCA, Medibuy, MedUnite, Memorial Hermann Hospital System, Novant, OhioHealth and TransUnion LLC
were recognized for their success in formulating and implementing solutions based on Quovadx's
technology. Each company successfully demonstrated an industry leadership position in innovation
and the transformation of traditional business practice.
"These awards are meant to honor those that have taken a leadership position in innovation and
have demonstrated that our technology solves real problems, meets the tremendous demands of today's
healthcare system and defies what seems impossible. We are proud to be an integral part of helping
our customers execute their vision for the people they serve," said Lorine Sweeney, President and
CEO of Quovadx.
Winners were selected in six distinct categories: best use of the QDX Integrator(TM) (formerly
CloverleafConX) integration engine, e-procurement integration, connectivity, indexing, the QDX BPMS
product (formerly WebConX) and the utilization of XML-based technology.
The QDX Integrator winners: HCA, the nation's leading healthcare provider, wins for receiving an
overall 3.5 (out of 4.0) rating on their customer satisfaction survey by successfully migrating
from their in-house integration engine to QDX Integrator with a specially designed Quovadx utility
called "Qbirt" in just under 12 months. With this tool, the complexity of configuration was reduced
to a series of pre-defined templates, speeding the time to market and the ability to migrate over
5,000 interfaces from a variety of systems.
OhioHealth also receives an award in this category for supporting the development of a single
source thread that raw-routes messages to each of many "redirection" threads, a technique used to
distribute the translation load to multiple processes that do not involve message transmission. To
date the team has migrated, developed and currently maintains 328 threads, 76 processes and eight
sites.
The e-procurement integration winner: Medibuy wins this award for creating a state-of-the-art
marketplace, Medibuy Marketplace(TM), while integrating leading materials management and ERP
systems using Quovadx's e-procurement integration solution and their Access(TM) product. The power
of this combination is streamlining procurement and supply chain processes, accelerating healthcare
provider connections with suppliers, and streamlining invoice reconciliation by enhancing order
cycle management.
The Connectivity winners: TransUnion wins for extending the advantages of Internet connectivity
to healthcare by integrating their consumer information database into the healthcare registration
process and providing real-time access to information at the point of service. In addition, they
developed an innovative risk management solution including identification validation, fraud
detection and credit determination services.
Using Quovadx's data access, integration, hosting and delivery tools, TransUnion was able to
use a product called ExpressCheck(SM) to incorporate nearly 100 different database and logic
checks, enabling up-to-date and verified patient data to be sent directly to providers' existing
systems. This solution is part of TransUnion's Identification and Financial Management program,
which recently received the "best in class" exclusive endorsement of the American Hospital
Association.
The Indexing winner: Memorial Hermann Hospital System wins this award for their use of Quovadx's
indexing solution allowing real-time passive mode and active-mode integration. This solution was
used in conjunction with their rollout of another system. The original load consisted of 3.8
million records from three patient management systems for nine hospitals in the greater Houston
area, and uncovered 800,000 potential duplicates within the system.
The QDX BPMS winner: Agreeing to be a beta site, Novant Health wins for employing QDX BPMS
(Business Process Management System), Quovadx's new legacy- to-web product. By bridging the gap
between web applications, databases and legacy systems Novant will provide physicians with secure,
fast and convenient access to patient data, reports and images through a physician portal.
The XML-based technology winner: MedUnite was given this award for their groundbreaking work in
real-time, Internet-based connectivity that enables physicians, insurers and other healthcare
constituents to efficiently, economically and securely handle a variety of administrative
transactions. The result is a unified, web-based platform that allows for the real-time processing
of administrative transactions that enable members to share and process information securely between
disparate legacy systems.
"We congratulate all of our winners on their adoption of next-generation alternatives and
invaluable contributions to healthcare, and look forward to being a part of their next challenge,"
said Lorine Sweeney, president and CEO of Quovadx.
